don’t tell me any more about the dead animals

would baby rabbits    skeleton

when buried

or are their bones too plush

for staying power,

crown of fur curled over         vanished

center

I know now, for certain, that life isn’t                  sacred.

a set of bones     not primed       for future fossil.
